NEWS AND NOTES. Homoeopathy by itself has a lower death rate in this disease than any other form of treatment, including anti-toxin, and moreover (what will be a point of interest and importance to our allopathic colleagues) abolishes the micro-organisms in the throat more quickly after the attack.
THE FORESIGHT OF HAHNEMANN. Hahnemann was the Faraday of Medicine. Indeed, the two men had much in common. Hahnemann has often been called a quack, though he was a qualified man; Faraday had no degrees, from an academic point of view he was a quack. Both men had broad views as to the unity of natural forms; and in both men, these views were held with such conviction, that they were driven to investigation.
HINTS ABOUT HEARTS. A word of caution, therefore, is necessary: dont run away with the idea that shoulder tip pain is always due to the liver and gall-bladder; indeed it is rather rare from this cause. Along with shoulder-tip pain there will very often be pain also in right or left supra-spinous fossa, in the various abdominal disorders.
THE CRISIS IN HOMOEOPATHY. HOMOEOPATHY in this country has come to a crisis in its history. During the last year or so, no fewer than eleven homoeopathic doctors (nearly all of them in the provinces) have died, and in practically no instances has a homoeopathic successor been left.
WHICH ARE THE TWELVE MOST USEFUL ACUTE REMEDIES. One is sometimes asked which twelve remedies should be chosen to fill a small pocket case for acute work, and this is an attempt to arrive at some conclusion on the matter. It should be said that twelve remedies is too small a number for any but the beginner in Homoeopathy, and one who starts with twelve will soon want to increase to twice or three times that number.
