Usually human perversity and curiosity-sometimes despair- send them to the homoeopath eventually. If they get well, they usually pride themselves on having discovered “a marvelous doctor.” If they are slow to get results, they blame me! I have had the pleasure of being instrumental in sending many people to homoeopathy for relief, but occasionally some of my more obstinate friends say to me,”Well, it certainly hasnt done much for you.

THE WONDER DRUGS OR THE HOMOEOPATHIC REMEDY.
by R.S.RASTOGI, B.A., M.D.H.
The choice is by no means so easy as might…
In the end she took one, just the day before, with the result that there was no pain, nothing but a slight sensation of nausea which passed in an hour, and she was able to carry on a normal days and went to a show in the evening. The relief and gratitude of the parents was very real, and they were astonished at what one dose could do. The girl, I understand would not admit that the change was due to the silly little powder.
In general, he disapproves of cathartics, moxas, setons and other palliative measures as they frequently do great harm. “Homoeopathic palliatives are vastly superior to the usual antipathic anodynes.” Nevertheless, he deems useful the application of a “sinapism” when the eruption of measles fails to appear, or in a case of suppressed tinea capitis.
Mixtures of the kind in tablet form are made by various American homoeopathic chemists. Although one of the remedies alone, or perhaps some entirely different remedy, would often work better, these tablets are effective, as their steady sale and the numerous repeat orders and testimonials prove.
The justice of subjecting a whole community to the risk of idiosyncrasy during the exploitation of a new drug which merely copies or slightly modifies the action of an earlier one is at least debatable. In the absence of Government action these are matters which must continue to be referred to the conscience and scruples of the individual practitioner.
In the same letter he states very significantly that “laboratory cancer research has gone on far so many years contentedly grinding out data and spinning deductions without attention being drawn to the fact that it never produces any useful results. And now, after a quarter of a century of research, we can see to what a deplorable waste of energy, ability and money this academic aimless toil may lead.
Specialism has a place in medical practice, but that place is, and should remain, a subsidiary place. The old division of practitioners into those engaged in general practice and those engaged in consulting practice has to all intents and purposes ceased to exist, not merely because the so-called consultants see patients independently, but still more because of the public demand “to see a specialist,” and, if need be, to continue under his care.
The mental effect of this treatment was remarkable, especially in severe chronic diabetes. Joie de vivre and efficiency for the daily round were regained. It is suggested that actual regeneration of the islets is produced, and this suggestion is supported by the absence of relapses of patients on these high carbohydrate diets.
This experiment is supposed to prove “beyond doubt” that the secretion of insulin is under the control of the vagus centre. Do the experimenters think it fair to deduce any conclusion from such a weird operation? Dogs naturally, not humans, were used, and they were by no means in a normal condition during the course of the experiment. Can we, therefore, accept the conclusions drawn as correct beyond doubt?
The cow was on board the vessel and the young medical man, knowing well the arguments that faith was the necessary accompaniment, if not the vital factor in Homoeopathy, thought this would be an excellent test as obviously the cow could not have faith. His treatment was quite successful in removing the warts and it decided his career as a Homoeopathic Physician.
In this case, also, the fatal issue was evidently determined by a massive infection of the blood strain. How to avoid such tragedies in the future? Dr. Beckman has no sovereign remedy. He admits that it is difficult enough to diagnose an infectious disease during the incubation period, but he thinks it likely that “through examination of the blood, some of the unsuitable donors would be disclosed.
The best way to deal with the menace of unqualified practice is to incorporate into orthodox medicine all that is good in it and to improve the teaching of therapeutical methods to students and graduates so that there will be a diminishing necessity for members of the public to have recourse to unqualified practice because of the failure to obtain relief from orthodox medicine.
Hahnemann laid down in the greatest detail the methods by which homeopathic medicines should be prepared. Since his time hundreds of additional medicines have been introduced. Unfortunately no uniform method of preparing homeopathic medicines was adopted.
This will preserve the extract for a week. Take from ten to twenty drops, according to the severity of the case, in a teaspoonful of water shortly before retiring. This acts as a pronounced sedative, is a powerful disinfectant, leaves no odour in the breath the following day, does not disturb the digestion, and is inexpensive to prepare.
The above books should be sufficient to show the beginner what homeopathy is. Next he ought to assure himself that homeopathy is recognized in all kinds of way and directions as producing cures of diseases. The Catalogue of the two hundred or more books on the subjects will be gladly supplied.
The Misses Scarlett gave me the greatest encouragement from the first moment, and numerous treatments which were quite new to me, instead of making me rely on glasses and on “resting” the eyes. Instead of resting the eyes I was given eye exercises. Naturally I felt terribly handicapped and did not know what I could do to earn a living.
The apostles of the vaccine and serum school believe that diseases are caused by germs. The apostles of the “right methods of living” school dispute this idea. Many of us would also oppose it for its horrible cruelty to animals. The poorer classes distrusted vaccination.
For this the biochemic system of medicine advocates Natrum muriaticum 3x, three to five pills three times a day. I therefore tried it on a number of sufferers with astonishing results. Persons in good health quickly lose their strength by taking purgative medicines, or using bad food .–HIPPOCRATES, Aphorisms.
On getting worse still, he was taken to another with similar negative results and then another was tried. But the rapidly got worse until he was having over 100 fits a month, and did not recognize any of the family, and could only lie and toss himself to and fro day and night.
Although homoeopathy has yet to be discovered in Ireland, many of the old people prefer herbs to doctors medicines. After the first dose Hypericum the pains came on worse than ever which, she said, she knew was sign that the remedy was the right one.
At one time many people in the West, in order to keep fit, lifted heavily weighted dumb-bells. If these exercises were overdone it was found that a distressing, condition known as being “muscle bound” arose, to the detriment of the strength of the patient.
If your do not treat a cold it gets well in a fortnight, it you treat it carefully it gets well in two weeks. Meanwhile half an hour gone b and we had talked with the utmost animation about her sisters mastoid operation, operations in general, and various other things.
Similia similibus curantar. Like cures like. A burn causes blistering of the skin. So does contact with the stinging nettle, and Cantharis, the Spanish fly, is a classic remedy used for raising blisters.By now the dog had quietened down so that we could loosen the string muzzle.
Many of the symptoms, particularly the hair on the tongue, pointed to Silica, and I gave her Silica for a few weeks with some benefit. The discharge may be foetid or watery, and the mucous membrane is always red, angry, swollen, itches and burns.”
TOO MUCH DIAGNOSIS. WANDERING through a hospital on a visitors day, you will undoubtedly be vastly impressed with its bright airiness and complete sense of neatness and order. The latest scientific cure that the papers has just been praising comes to mind, and you rejoice that modern medicine has made these strides.
MY EXPERIENCE OF HOMOEOPATHY. “THOSE tonsils must come out.” This was the unanimous verdict of several doctors on seeing a child who was ever pale, listless, constantly catching colds and entirely lacking in joyous well- being. Gargles and paintings were tried, but resulted in no improvement. So eventually those tonsils were taken out.
ARE INJECTIONS REALLY NECESSARY. NOWADAYS injections play a large part in the treatment of all hospital patients, and it is no exaggeration to say that no in- patient at the present time is fortunate enough to finish a course of treatment without some administrations of this kind.
RECOGNITION OF DISTEMPER,ITS PREVENTION AND EARLY TREATMENT. The severe form of the disease manifests itself in a sudden refusal of food, sadness, whimpering, and general lassitude; also there is a high temperature. After three to four days the temperature falls below normal and death occurs. The acute form sets in in a similar manner, only the fever lasts two to four weeks; a very high temperature, or it falls to rise again and then comes down gradually.
One of these was a distinguished surgeon and quit the veterinary profession in middle life to study human homoeopathic medicine. He is now a well-known human surgeon. Another one of these three deviated only occasionally from the precepts of the homoeopathic school and yet retired in comfortable circumstances from his earnings.
Dr. Belting deserves a lot of credit for his efficient management of our wonderful trip. His charming personality, unselfish thoughtfulness for our comfort and enjoyment endeared him to all-in fact, a suggestion was made that two years from now we charter the Belginland and make a trip to Belgium under Dr. Beltings capable arrangements. “So say we all of us”.
We have discussed the basic principles of a proper and well- balanced diet. It might be well at this time, therefore, to consider some special elements in the diet in greater detail. The “fats” and the lipoids are two different kinds of fats which we ought to be familiar with. The lipins constitute a group of foods which include both the fats and the lipoids. The distinction between these substances is not commonly understood.
Other important results of the governments studies in the biochemistry of meat show the value of pork in combination with cereal and vegetable products. Until a few years ago it was commonly assumed that, with some exceptions, a pound of digestible protein in one food product and practically the same food value as a pound in another.
Mornings he has no appetite; drinks one or two cups of coffee, eats a slice or so of toast, and perhaps some apple; has nothing to say, is depressed, discouraged and apprehensive; is silent, but makes a terrible atmosphere of gloom; face looks grayish white, with deep bruised-looking blue shadows under eyes.
