N.C.DAS.

1. Mrs. Madhury Panday 17: Newly married young girl of good health. At about 11 p.m. being asked by her husband to fetch a glass of water from the next room took hold of a lantern, opened the door and went to the verandah and sat there being unable to proceed any further or utter any sound. Her delay to come back forced her husband to get up and enquire and he found her sitting in the verandah and unable to reply to any question or utter a sound. She was carried into the bed and she fell asleep after application of water on the forehead and eyes.

At 5 a.m. she woke up along with her husband but still unable to utter any sound though she was trying frantically to do so. Inability to utter a sound led her to hide her face with eyes full of tears. I was called in at about 5-30 a.m. On examination I found her pulse to be slightly rapid, otherwise her heart, lungs, respiration were perfectly normal. On my enquiring what happened she tried her level best to say something but being unable to utter any sound embraced her mother-in-law by the neck and began to shed tears. 2 tablets of Kali phos. 6x. dissolved in a little warm water were given with instruction to give another dose of 2 tablets likewise after half an hour if she does not fall asleep by that time.

Her husband being impatient gave the second dose after about 15 minutes after which the patient fell asleep at about 6 a.m. The patient woke up at half past 1 p.m., lay for some time in bed and then went to bath room where from she emerged after half an hours, after bathing. She took a cup of tea after which she started talking quite normally. She could not remember what happened.
