MY INTRODUCTION TO HOMOEOPATHY

My mother was unwilling to have the operation performed, and, having read books on Homoeopathy, took me to a famous London Homoeopath. He examined me thoroughly from head to foot and surprised me by the number and the minuteness of his questions. He inquired into the whole of my past history from birth and into the medical history of my parents and brother and sister.

This article received the prize of a guinea.

THREE months ago I knew nothing of Homoeopathy. Now, as the result of personal experience I am convinced that it is the true way of healing.

Last Christmas, after three months of hard work on the land, during which time I was often constipated, I was attacked by severe griping pains in the lower abdomen. These persisted for about a week and were followed by severe flatulence and indigestion. The local doctor diagnosed appendicitis and advised me to have the appendix removed. Several X-rays showed nothing definite.

He seemed to know of minor of points regarding my health and habits like my liking for salted foods, weak ankles and cold feet, without being told, and asked many question about diet and daily habits which the ordinary doctor never mentions.

I was sent a complete report of my condition and put on a vegetarian diet with plenty of bran. I was also sent the following weekly pills: Thuja 200 as a vaccination antidote, Morbillinum 200, measles antidote, for I had had measles badly, Coqueluchinum 200, whooping cough antidote, and pills for the abdominal pain and for digestion and flatulence.

The indigestion and flatulence improved gradually and I felt butter on a vegetarian diet. the abdominal pains recurred one a vegetarian diet. The abdominal pains recurred once and then entirely disappeared and after two and a half months the abdomen felt entirely normal and free from any vague feeling of insecurity. Later I was given Nux vomica 3x before meals, and Ferrum sulphuricum 3x after meals as digestion and tonic medicines and these were both very beneficial. Bad-smelling perspiration under the arms was cured by Sepia 12 x and Arnica 3x, given for fag, always had immediate effect.

My mother, who was rather thin and jaundiced, adopted a vegetarian diet at the same time, talking plenty of milk, together with Ferrum phosphoricum 2x for tonic and blood-making. She gained two to three pounds every week and now weighs over nine stone and feels altogether stronger and healthier. She has suffered from constipation but the diet and paraffin at night and in the morning cured that.

I am now preparing to return to land-work instead of undergoing the operation for appendicitis, which orthodox medicine would have insisted on long ago. I am profoundly grateful for Homoeopathy for having put me right without operation.
