Spirits; watching. Abuse of mercury; too high living. Drinking wine. Hurried eating. Eating when very tired. Abuse of alcohol. Debauching. Ices. “Decayed meat, fish.”.

Type: Acid. Atonic. Flatulent. Acute. Chronic.

Desires: Coffee. Salt things. Sour, acid, things. Sweets. warm drinks. Food sweetened with sugar.

Taste: Bitter. Bloody. Putrid. Saltish. Food tastes saltish. Bitter of salty taste.

Appetite: Excessive hunger. Want of appetite.

Thirst: Burning thirst. Extreme thirst.

Tongue: Tongue fissured. Black. Blue. Brown. Yellowish brown. Dirty. Red. White. Yellow. Dryness of tongue and mouth. Burning of tongue. Soreness of tongue. Tongue covered with aphthae.

Nausea: Nausea especially in the morning after meal or at night. Continual nausea. Nausea after drinking coffee. Nausea in the morning without vomiting. Nausea in morning with qualmishness in stomach. Long continued nausea after eating meals. While eating; after eating.

Vomiting: Vomiting of mucus; of blood; vomiting in evening. Bilious vomiting then blood, or mucus. Vomiting of blood; of food in the evening. Vomiting after eating. Incessant vomiting. Vomiting after milk. Vomiting of food; of mucus, of sour matter.

Stomach and Abdomen: Eructations, heaviness, fullness, and sleepiness; tense from flatulence, with pain; worse lying down. Waterbrash, asthmatic breathing from flatulence. Meteorism with loud rumbling. Burning in stomach extending to back and along spine. Contractive pain extending to chest, with distention of abdomen. Faint gone feeling in stomach not relieved by eating. Crampy pains, forcing patient to bend double. Distress comes on half hour after eating. Sensitiveness of epigastric region.

Digestion slow; food putrefies before it digests. Gastralgia of nursing women with excessive flatulence, sour, rancid belching. Aversion to milk, meat, and fat things. Excessive discharge of fetid flatus. Cannot bear tight clothing around waist and abdomen. Abdomen greatly distended, better passing wind. Flatulent colic. Flatus hot, moist, offensive. Great desire for coffee. Food tastes too salt. Acidity in the mouth after eating. Weakness of digestion; the simplest food inconveniences him. Bloated abdomen after eating and drinking. Pain in the stomach after loss of fluids (while nursing).

Distention of abdomen from flatulency with heat and frequent discharge of very fetid flatus. Pain in the abdomen from riding in a carriage. Acidity when lying on the back and when walking. Empty or bitter risings. Risings of food and especially of fat food. Sour risings especially after a meal. Pyrosis. Hiccough after every movement, complaints from obstructed flatulency relieved by the discharge of flatus. Flatus has a putrid and very stinking smell; rich food, butter or milk causing flatulency.

Dyspepsia, heartburn, coldness of the surface of the body and feeble pulse; flatulent dyspepsia, sour eructations difficult to raise, the distress comes on half an hour or an hour after eating and the stomach and abdomen become swollen like a drum. Ever sort of food disagrees, everything seems to be converted into gas. Meat, fat things and milk make her flatulent. Excessive flatulency with tendency to diarrhoea. Dyspepsia of old people (chronic). Eructation ameliorate.

Colic from flatulence, abdomen full to bursting better from passing flatus or hard stool. Sensation of constant downward pressure in abdomen so that the patient tries to support it with the hands or a bandage better by passing flatus upward and downward. Belching tasting sour or rancid. Feces escape with flatus. Hepatic region very sensitive and painful to touch. Right lobe of liver painful, stitching, burning pains. Flatulence causes asthmatic breathing and dyspnoea.

Stool: Painful diarrhoea of old people, even soft stool passed with difficulty. Diarrhoea from chilling the stomach with ice water, from rancid fat. Stools frequent, involuntary, putrid, cadaverous smelling, watery, bloody. Thin, pale, mucus stools. Burning at anus after stool.

Constipation, hard, tough, scanty stool. Ineffectual urging to stool, only wind passes with painful pressure in rectum but feels relieved by passage of flatus. Sensation of complete emptiness in abdomen remaining a long time after stool.

Urine: Urine has a strong odor; dark-red urine as if it were mixed with blood; urine deposits a red sediment.

Accompaniments: Restlessness and anxiety in the evening 4 to 6 P.M.

Headache particularly in the morning when the patient awakens from sleep having spent the best part of the night carousing. Humming and buzzing in the head. The patient feels worse in the warm room.

Pressing headache with tears in the eyes, worse afternoon and evening, after eating. Every evening heat and redness of the (right) external ear.

Bleeding from the nose with paleness of face. Coryza with hoarseness. Greenish color of the face. Pale face. Dryness of the mouth without thirst.

Heat in hands. Burning in the hands. Icy cold hands. The tip of the fingers are covered with cold sweet. Perspiration of the feet.

Bad effects of exhausting diseases.

Ailments: From quinine, especially suppressed intermittents; abuse of mercury, salt, salt meats, spoiled fish, meats or fats; from getting over heated.

Bad effects from loss of vital fluid.

Hippocratic face; face cold with cold sweat. Patients crave things that make them sick. Old topers crave whisky or brandy; want clothing loose around abdomen.

Bad effects of a debauch (after failure of Nux-v) late suffers, rich food.

Eructations give temporary relief. Desire to be constantly fanned. Hoarseness worse evenings.

Awakens often from cold limbs and suffers from cold knees at night. Constipation with piles which get worse every time he is on a spree. Vertigo, worse after a debauch and excessive indulgence in high living; syncope, especially at meals or after eating. Carbo veg is sluggish, stout and lazy. Rancid belching or else passage of offensive flatus with bitter taste in the mouth. Belching temporarily relieves the symptoms of carbo-veg.

Aggravation: In the morning. Before mid-night. Before falling asleep. During eating. From butter, fat food, pork, after a debauch.

Amelioration: From eructations.
