GLEANINGS


Apis Mel should be administered in cases in which the dropsy is characterised by great soreness of the muscles of the abdomen; stinging, burning pains in different parts of the body; the urine is scanty and of a very dark colour; great difficulty in breathing particularly when lying down, even leaning backwards causes a suffocative feeling.


1. The most appropriate and efficacious time for administering the medicine in these cases is immediately or very soon after the termination of the paroxysm, as soon as the patient has in some degree recovered from its effects:.

2. The age of the patient, his mode of living and diet his occupation, his domestic position, his Social relations and so forth must next be taken into consideration in order to ascertain whether these things have tended to increase his malady, or in how far they may favor or hinder the treatment. In like manner the state of his disposition and mind must be attended to, to learn whether that presents any obstacle to the treatment, or requires to be directed encouraged or modified.

3. This remedy (Sulphur) will be found especially useful in conjunctivitis from a foreign body, after Aco. or Ferrum Phos.
