EDITORIAL. Hahnemann and Hayes played the entire keyboard from the crude drug up to the DMM potency. In fact we have it from the clear headed Fincke that Hahnemann in his late years allowed the patient but one sniff from the open bottle of a very high potency for starting a disordered constitution toward harmony and health.

THE ACHILLES HEEL OF HOMOEOPATHY.

A weak spot in homoeopathic literature is shown clearly from the first stage of this greatest system of drug healing down to our gifted Royal Hayes, a brief of whose marksmanship is shown in his published One Hundred Emergency Shots. Endless relief and cure of all manner of disease hand at the belt of Homoeopathy, none of which is believed by the profession and would not be accepted by us without similar results in our own practices.

In case reports we look in vain for the reasons why particular drugs were chosen. In discussing one of his cases, Dr. Hayes was asked on what grounds he had made this choice of remedy. His reply was “that no other drug could have been selected.” Careful scrutiny of this case failed to bring out the remedy so apparent to him. One case fully reported is more valuable than a host of cured cases where the WHY was been omitted.

It seems that recording cures is sufficient for most of us. Bringing relief in a difficult case gives satisfaction and a sense of mastery. And setting down this fact seems all that is necessary, without going into the consideration of just how that remedy was arrived at and the WHY is omitted.

Electronic drug selection, with its reaching out into thin air, leaves cold scent. There is no doubt of its usefulness, which is denied to most of us. In the hands of those skilled in its use, it open up and a new avenue for spotting the remedy. Dr. Hayes’ fine record was established without its aid. He told me it had never helped him.

Many are satisfied and successful using only the crude drug, the 3X, 6X and 12X. The Koch treatment with its occasional brilliant result in cancer uses only the 6X and 12X. They do not seem to have sensed the fact of grafting potentized remedies and for new supply go through the original processing for each new batch.

Many cannot go along with him to this length, but if we can appreciate the development of energy through atomic fission and our closely related mechanical potentization, the mental hurdle should not be too difficult.

Royal Hayes relieved a young man of epilepsy existent from childhood. Sedatives lessened the attacks through the years. the parents had spent a small fortune in prominent New England clinics to no avail. The remedy, Oenanthe crocata 3X t.i.d. No fits or sedation for many months. Also with Pulsatilla 1M, 10M and 50M, single doses at two months’ interval, an epithelioma with glandular involvement healed completely with no return after several years. His “D.U.” after a remedy showed that the single dose was prescribed where a high potency was given.

In reporting cases I beg of you that all items leading up to the remedy be included as well as the potency, repetition if any, case management, in addition to the diagnosis, that Homoeopathy may be helped to occupy the position it so richly deserves.
