The patients complaint was debility persisting after a attack of grippe. This had persisted two months although Bryonia has appeared to do well for the acute phase of the malady. The patient was having too frequent stools which were preceded by griping. She was more thin and haggard appearing than usual although too much so at all times. The shaky weakness was manifest, especially in the management of the legs. Restless, fidgety legs was manifest as well as weakness. Aching in the hands was a remnant of the grippe effects. Not much identification of remedy in these symptoms.
Two other symptoms, though, were quite original, exceptional, and in the above setting, significant. One of them could not be discovered in my books. The other was found in Kents Repertory and Clarkes Dictionary, viz., “heat waves in the legs.” Stitches in the legs was then revealed and reflected in the text. The 200th potency was used and the reaction satisfactory.
The other peculiar symptom lacking in the books but cured by the remedy was nausea after riding. The sickness would appear immediately after riding, not during it. The reaction of the remedy was so quick that the patient had no recurrence after an hours ride home.
