Mrs. Hazel M., age 53. Following extensive dental work, there was a dislocation of the right jaw, which would recur on any attempt to eat.
One dental surgeon wanted her to go to Chicago “to have the joint injected” and another advised “writing the joint”.
After careful questioning the following symptoms were brought out:.
1. Dislocation jaw (recurrent).
2. Ameliorated open air.
3. Aggravated riding in an automobile.
4. Sadness.
5. Oversensitive.
6. Numbness.
7. Ameliorated lying down.
8. Sweat axilla.
9. Aggravated awakening.
10. Aversion to company.
11. Ameliorated warm food and drinks.
12. Constipation at times.
Repertorial analysis by the Kent method brought out the following:
Bry. 12/27 Kali carb. 12/21 Rhus tox. 12/32 Sepia 12/35.
After reviewing the materia medica, Rhus tox. 1M was given with directions to wear a chin strap in bed.
Pain and swelling of the right side of the face disappeared in a few days, the dislocations occurred less frequently and now it has been five years without any recurrence.
Miss Julia F. age 42, occupation nurse. This patient first came to me in October 1937 at which time there was a small mass in the left breast. a triple punch examination was negative for malignancy. Conium, low potency and taken frequently did not improve the condition. in February, 1939 I removed the left breast and scirrhus cancer was reported.
In August, 1939 a metastatic nodule appeared in the left breast area. Reluctant to advise more surgery, I carefully repertorized her case with both Kent and Boenninghausen, using the following symptoms:
1. Worse in morning on awakening.
2. Ameliorated in open air.
3. Depressed and anxious.
4. Fear and apprehension.
5. Weeps easily.
6. Aversion to company.
7. Aggravated sitting.
8. Flashes of heat.
10. Burning pain left axilla.
11. Stitching pain left axilla.
12. Stiffness of the back.
The results were as follows:
Boenninghausen:
Lycopodium 11/43; Sepia 11/42; Sulphur 11/41 Kent:.
Lycopodium 12/31; Sepia 11.23; Sulphur 12.28.
Lycopodium 200., 1M, 10M have been the potencies.
Her general health began to improve in a very few weeks, then the stiffness in the back cleared away. After several months the burning pain in the left axilla disappeared. After two and one-half years the nodule gradually disappeared. Since the spring of 1942 this patient outside of some hot flashes is apparently well.
