ANOTHER CONVERT TO HOMOEOPATHY

This morning, however, I was most gratified to be called by a very cheerful person, beaming with health and good spirits. “My dear, I am so grateful. I followed your advice, and saw the chemist. He is a most clever man, there were several people there asking him similar questions, so I told him all my troubles. I have to take this for the cough,” she handed me Bryonia “and this for rheumatic pains.”

A few days ago I met a neighbour of mine. On asking her how she felt, tears rained down her cheeks and she said she thought she was dying! When I asked her what made her think that, she confessed she was nearly seventy, and also had a dreadful cough which wouldnt go away and gave her a nasty pain in the side. I tried to cheer her up. She certainly looked very well, and very unlike a dying woman, “Surely you are doing something about this cough?” I enquired, “Oh yes, my dear, come and look.”

She took me indoors and I saw a collection of cough mixtures, most of which were half finished, and to the value of 12s. or 15s. “But,” I said, “Dont those horrible looking concoctions make you feel ill?” “They do I suppose; that one always makes me sick.” No wonder, the poor lady felt bad and depressed. Some what nervously I suggested she should try Bryonia.

She had not heard of it, so I explained it was a homoeopathy remedy which might help her cough and would certainly not upset her. She was rather doubtful, however, so I suggested she should go to the homoeopathic chemist not far away and ask his advice. I wrote down Bryonia for her and left her, quite thinking that she would not bother any further and continue with the nasty messes she was already taking.

Here she gave me Rhus tox. “My cough is almost gone and the rheumatism quite gone. And all it has cost me is 1s. 8d.! Thank you again. Now I know where to go, and shant have to worry any more. The doctors dont do me any good at all.” She continued thus for over half an hour, and I left very pleased that a few words had been able to show her how to find the way to cure her troubles.

N.B. She mentioned she had a frontal headache, not severe, which she thought due to her eyesight. Quite probably this is so, but it is of interest to note that one or two people of my acquaintances also get headaches when they take Bryonia, although not usually suffering from them.
